Report on China’s Actions for Advancing Global Dialogue Among Civilizations

On 10 June, on the occasion of the second International Day for Dialogue among Civilizations, the China Institute of International Studies (CIIS) officially released report China’s Actions for Advancing Global Dialogue Among Civilizations.

In March 2023, President Xi Jinping proposed the Global Civilization Initiative, calling on all parties to jointly advocate respect for the diversity of civilizations, jointly advocate the common values of humanity, jointly advocate the importance of inheritance and innovation of civilizations, and jointly advocate robust international people-to-people exchanges and cooperation, providing a Chinese proposalfor promoting the progress of human civilization.In June 2024, the 78th session of the UN General Assembly adopted by consensus a resolution proposed by China and 82 other countries, designating 10June every year as the International Day for Dialogue among Civilizations, which received enthusiastic response and broad support from the international community.

To further review and summarize China's experience, practices and major achievements in promoting the implementation of the Global Civilization Initiative and facilitating global dialogue among civilizations, the CIISwrote the report China’s Actions for Advancing Global Dialogue Among Civilizations. The report introduces the historical background and profound implications of the Global Civilization Initiative, and systematically reviews China's concepts, policies and practical achievements in promoting dialogue among civilizations from five aspects: poolingbroad international consensus on exchanges and mutual learning among civilizations, supporting the United Nationsin playing its role as the primaryplatform for dialogue among civilizations,deepeningbilateral and regional dialogue among civilizations, advancingmultilateral cooperation on dialogue among civilizations, and integrating dialogue among civilizations into exchanges and cooperation acrossvarious fields. It also looks ahead to China's next steps in promoting dialogue among civilizations.
