On December 5, Consul General Chen Haiping attended and addressed the inaugural Chiang Mai Chinese Film Festival hosted by the Consulate General. The Director of the Chiang Mai Department of Culture, local community leaders, and more than 300 audience members participated and watched the first screening of the film, "I Am What I Am 2".

Consul General Chen Haiping stated that over the 50 years since the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Thailand, the two countries have achieved fruitful results in film and television cultural exchanges. Recently, His Majesty the King Vajiralongkorn successfully visited China, and the two heads of state reached important consensus on deepening cultural exchanges between China and Thailand, providing broad prospects for film and television cooperation. The Consulate General will use this film festival as a starting point to encourage more Chinese films to be screened in Thailand, helping friends in Northern Thailand to understand and appreciate China and Chinese culture.

The three-day film festival screened five Chinese films : "I Am What I Am 2", "The Lychees of Chang'an", "Thirty Thousand Miles of Chang'an", "The Composer", "Detective Chinatown 1900" Since its opening, the festival has attracted large audiences, with all five films sold out and receiving enthusiastic responses.
