On September 19, Consul General Chen Haiping paid a visit to the new Governor of Chiang Mai Province, Mr. Thotsaphon Phuean-udom, and exchanged views on carrying out practical cooperation and deepening China-Thailand friendship.

Consul General Chen Haiping congratulated Mr. Thotsaphon Phuean-udom on his new appointment and praised Chiang Mai Province for its long-term emphasis on and active promotion of friendly exchanges and practical cooperation with Chinese local governments. He expressed the Consulate General's willingness to work with Chiang Mai Province to implement the important consensus reached by the leaders of the two countries, successfully organize a series of celebrations for the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Thailand, strengthen cooperation in economic, trade, investment, law enforcement, security, culture and tourism, effectively safeguard the safety and legitimate rights and interests of Chinese citizens, support greater achievements in Chinese language education, and jointly promote the in-depth and practical construction of a China-Thailand community with a shared future in northern Thailand. He expressed the hope that Chiang Mai Province will earnestly adhere to the one-China principle and maintain the political foundation of China-Thailand relations.

Mr. Thotsaphon Phuean-udom, the new Governor of Chiang Mai Province thanked Consul General Chen Haiping for his congratulations and said Chiang Mai Province attached great importance to developing relations with China and firmly adhered to the one-China principle. He expressed his willingness to maintain close cooperation with the Chinese Consulate General in Chiang Mai, deepen exchanges between sister cities, promote new achievements in cooperation in various fields, and contribute to the friendship between China and Thailand.
