On August 9 and 16, the Chinese Consulate General in Chiang Mai, in collaboration with the Association for the Promotion of Peaceful Reunification of China in Northern Thailand and the Chiang Mai Chinese Chamber of Commerce, held two events in Chiang Mai and Chiang Rai to commemorate the 80th anniversary of the victory of the Chinese People's War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War. Consul General Chen Haiping delivered a speech. Over 400 representatives from 39 overseas Chinese associations and Chinese villages attended.

Consul General Chen Haiping led the overseas Chinese community in viewing a photo exhibition and documentary film commemorating the victory of the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression. He noted that the Communist Party of China led the people of all ethnic groups across China in 14 years of unyielding and bloody struggle to defeat the Japanese militarist invaders, making an indelible contribution to the victory of the World Anti-Fascist War. The CPC's pivotal role was crucial to the victory of the Chinese People's War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression, and Taiwan's return to China was an important part of the victory of World War II and the post-war international order. He encouraged the overseas Chinese community to uphold the fine tradition of patriotism and love for their homeland, and to be the inheritors of the great spirit of the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression, promoters of the great cause of national reunification, and facilitators of China-Thailand friendly cooperation.
